Pilgrim Church Announces Rooftop Solar Panel Dedication – June 16, 11:45 AM

Come join us celebrate and dedicate the completion of our rooftop solar panels, pivoting to this
clean energy source. Pilgrim will dedicate this special moment on June 16, 2024, at 11:45 AM. Ice cream and outdoor games will add a festive air to the celebration.

“We are thrilled that our solar array is now online. It’s amazing to watch the meter roll backward as we gather the sun’s energy through this system,” said Pilgrim’s Pastor Reebee Girash. “We are grateful to the dozens of Pilgrims and friends who donated to make this system possible and to those members who dedicated well over a year to bring this project to fruition. Our choice to go solar is grounded in our congregation’s commitment to care for creation and address climate change where we are able through our local practices.”

Pilgrim has strived to be environmentally sound in how it conducts its worship and fellowship. For the solar project, the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022’s inclusion of nonprofits as well as for-profit organizations, incentivized immediate action through tax credits on upfront costs, making the economics feasible for Pilgrim. Pilgrim Church will not only contribute energy to the grid but also reduce electricity costs and the use of traditional energy sources.

All are invited to attend. We hope to gather neighbors and others in the community who have dedicated their time and energy to environmental concerns, but everyone is welcome to celebrate. Pilgrim is pleased to join several other Lexington-based faith organizations that have worked to employ green energy sources.
